L’Unione doganale tra l’Unione Europea e la Turchia: una stima dell’impatto economico sull’economia turca

Roberto De Santis (roberto.de_santis@ecb.int)

Economia Internazionale / International Economics, 2000, vol. 53, issue 2, 153-184

Abstract: The economic implications of the customs union agreement between Turkey and the European Union have been studied applying a general equilibrium model to the Turkish economy. The model is characterised by two trade fiows, the voluntary export restraint mechanism, and the consumption tax base definition of indirect taxation. The results indicate that the customs union raises Turkey’s welfare and GDP moderately whilst the Turkish trade volume expands enormously. The sectors which record a positive growth are the non-food industrial activities. Sensitivity analysis upon elasticity values seems to support this overall conclusion.
