Abstract:
The first part of this paper illustrates the point of view of Nicholas Georgescu Roegen (=GR) on the subject of growth, development and innovation. Some of the criticisms levelled at this approach are then considered, while presenting some arguments in favour. The Appendix reports a successful experiment carried out by one GR’s best pupils with a view to enhancing development in Bangladesh, one of the poorest and least fortunate countries in the world.
