Abstract: This paper deals with two fundamental notions in the work of Jena Weiller. The concepts of « major investment flow » and « preferences of structure » are analyzed. Taking account of their contribution to international economics, it is proposed to apply them to the notion of multidimensional investment. The specific function of major investment flows in the field of international trade is underlined. The long run trends of preferences of structure have also been taken into account. Their application to multidimensional investment makes it possible to describe the development of public and private international strategic, which generate economic, cultural and social investment flows. Sustained by preferences of structure, these strategies provide a framework for the conceptualization of international policies of co-operation and structural adjustment, and the long curves of multidimensional cycles.
