Abstract: The works of Orlando D’Alauro, founder of “Economia Internazionale" Orlando D’Alauro, founder of this review, was one of Italy’s most eminent economists in the second half of the 20th century. He was director of the Centre for Economic and econometric Research at the University of Genoa and played a crucial role as coordinator of research activities at the Italian National Research Institute (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche). In particular, he directed the project “The Role of Foreign Trade in the Italian Economy” (La componente estera nella economia italiana) and chaired the Scientific Council of the national coordination group “Short and medium term monetary and economic policy studies”. He was also invited to give lectures on international economic policy at the Sorbonne, the Institut des Hautes Etudes Internationales of Geneva, the University of Bordeaux, in addition to holding conferences in Barcelona, Budapest, Cardiff and New York. In 1946, he founded, together with Volrico Travaglini, Francesco Manzitti, President of the Genoa Chamber of Commerce, and Bruno Minoletti, the Chamber’s General Secretary, the Institute for International Economics (Istituto di Economia Internazionale), a body formed to carry out scientific research in the areas of international economic theory and policy.
