Abstract:
This short study analyzes the development and new role of fixed capital in the knowledge economy. It asks to define the cognitive capitalism itself as the product of combined development of fixed capital and social interaction, namely the two forms of the general intellect analyzed by Marx. The importance of fixed capital is measured not only by its high growth all along the expansion of knowledge economy, but also by its extension over the whole social space. Moreover, the development of the ICT has transformed the capital/labour relationship in a relationship of interiority between the producer and information and communication systems. This new relationship blurs the boundaries between dead and living labour. Finally, ICT based management accelerates the creation of objective conditions for a real universal cooperation and emancipation, notably through the new decentralized and globalized productive models.
