Abstract: The population of the older adults is increasing globally; however disparities still exist in their healthcare utilisation especially in a developing country like Nigeria. The study explored and investigated the different healthcare modalities utilised by the older adults in the treatment of their illnesses in selected rural and urban areas. The study adopted descriptive research design. Four local government areas: Badagry and Epe (rural), Surulere and Shomolu (urban) were selected based on the large number of older adults in these Local Government Areas. One thousand, six hundred and forty (1640) semistructured copies of questionnaires were administered on the older adults, male and female, who were 60 years and above through multistage sampling technique.16 indepth interviews and 4 Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) comprising of 8 homogeneous groups were conducted among the older adults.
