INVESTIGACIONES REGIONALES - Journal of REGIONAL RESEARCH, 2009, issue 16, 93-115

Abstract: This paper analyzes the impact of a variety of socioeconomic and regional factors to explain Internet use by individuals in Spain. Using probit models we obtain that socio-demographic variables explain Internet use in Spain. The influence of education, age and occupation seem to be particularly strong. We also find that regional variables (percentage of employment in the services sector, GDP per capita, ICT capital) show a positive influence on Internet use by individuals. The results allow us to identify variables to promote policy actions within the framework of the Information Society.
