Cuidados con “sentido común”: desafíos, vacíos y contradicciones

Abstract: En los últimos años y a raíz de las privatizaciones de las políticas públicas y deterioros de los servicios sociales, el marco de “lo común” se está convirtiendo en una referencia analítica para configurar programas innovadores en el ámbito de la protección social. Si bien, esta provisión desde “lo comunitario” se ha tratado todavía de manera incipiente en la literatura académica, ya han empezado a surgir a nivel aplicado algunas iniciativas que tienen como base una clara activación de los vínculos sociales más próximos. En concreto, el artículo se centra en la provisión de cuidados, espacio desde el que se busca explorar esta dimensión de lo común y comunitario como elemento bajo el cual potenciar la acción pública. La intención no es retraer “lo público”, sino dotarlo de un significado “común” que incorpore en sus actividades los vínculos cooperativos. Se defiende que la combinación de “lo público” con “lo común” podría dinamizar la atención de los servicios sociales y afrontar con mayor flexibilidad las nuevas demandas en el terreno de la asistencia personal. Over the last few years, owing to the privatization of public policy and the deterioration of social services, the framework of what is “common” is becoming an analytical reference used to set up innovative programs in the area of social protection. Although this provision has only recently been dealt with from a “community” perspective in the academic literature, several initiatives based on the clear activation of the closest social ties have started to be applied. This article focuses specifically on care services, the area in which we attempt to examine the common and community aspects as a way to promote public action. The purpose is not to withdraw the “public” element, but rather to give it a “common” meaning, incorporating cooperative ties into its activities. We argue that the combination of “public” and “common” elements could increase the attention of the social services and offer greater flexibility in meeting the demands of personal care assistance.
