Abstract: Data governance has come a long way from its inception in the 1980s, transitioning from a necessary overhead to a vital business capability enabling intelligence at scale. This article discusses the data governance journey to data governance 3.0, the role data products can play in risk-managed business self-service with a future view, and the lessons we can learn that will help move AI governance from infancy to value enabler at scale.
