Abstract:
This article has the objective within the framework to carry out a comparative analysis between the ports of Lázaro Cárdenas and some important ports in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). In this work the models of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) in two modalities are used: one developed by Banker, Charnes and Cooper (BCC) and by the own Charnes, Cooper and Rhodes (CCR) to evaluate the performance of the efficiency from inputs like: berth length, area and the total number of gantry cranes of port container terminals. At the same time, the container throughput is considered in the model like output. Once obtained it takes us to the results to the conclusion that the port efficiency, from the infrastructural improvement of Lázaro Cárdenas, in comparison to some ports of APEC, is one of lowest and could significantly improve in some inputs derived from this investigation.
