Abstract: Lake of Zirahuen has beautiful landscape making this place attractive for tourism because of the amenity and recreational activities (environmental services of indirect use). This paper shows the economic value of Zirahuen by using the travel cost method. The value of the economical environmental services rises up to 3.7 million dollars considering the visitor time cost otherwise only one million dollars without taking it in consideration. The economic valuation tries to contribute with the elements for designing a new developmental strategy in which the economic benefits for the basin preservation must be considered.
