Abstract: This article presents the results obtained by the implementation of the Schaefer-Clark’s bioeconomical model in the Lake of Patzcuaro, State of Michoacan. Using official sources and a survey applied to 58 fishermen in 20 communities surrounding the lake, it was estimated the capture volume, the Maximum Sustainable Yield (MSY) and the catching profit. The results shows that three out of five species of fish captured are overexploited which have nutritional and commercial value to the community (charal, pescado blanco and tilapia) and two species with potential catching: the carpa and the acumara. However, it was demonstrated that this activity contribute to generate benefits for fishermen.
