Abstract:
The objetive of this study is to investigate the influence of economic and social factors on alcoholic consumption in Mexico with a Sample Selecction Model. Data comes from the National Addictions Surveyes 2008 (ENA), wich proviedes information under consumption of differents alcoholic beverages. Our resultd suggest that the socio-economic variables play important roles in alcohol comsuption. The probability of drinking increases in men with low levels of income, no social security, living in urban areas and work in the industrial sector. Therefore, public policy to moderate the consumption of such goods should identify the population groups most at risk of developing an addictive consumption.
