Abstract:
Within the paper there are emphasized the specific bioenergy technologies for advanced treatment of the wastewater from the site of population centers. The proposed technology is developing the mechanical stage, necessary for the separation of coarse substances, sand and grease and replaces the primary clarification beds with digesters / anaerobic fermentation basins in order to catch the biogas from the organic masses of wastewater. And then, through the aeration basins, biofilters, slow filters and secondary clarification beds, to be retained, by simultaneous action of the processes of denitrification – nitrification, the nitrogen and phosphorus-based compounds from wastewater. These microbiological processes are possible due to organic loading and temperature of wastewater (20-25ºC) entered in the WWTP objects. The biogas produced in the anaerobic digesters is used for heating the biomass from inside and the heating of the labs and spaces within WWTP; the exceeded biogas it is transformed in electricity. The mesophilic anaerobic digestion sludge is recommended as organic fertilizer to promote organic crops. The proposed technology was verified in a laboratory facility and on a series of installations in the food industry. It recommends the implementation of these technologies also for the advanced treatment of wastewater collected on the site of population centers. The paper is in line with current trends of alternative energy recovery, by producing and using biogas from the domestic wastewater in parallel with the separat i onofnitrogencompounds , thereby respecting the requirements for environment protection.
