CIRCULAR ECONOMY – NECESSITY, ATTRIBUTES, MECHANISMS

Ioan Bica

Romaqua, 2017, vol. 116, issue 2, 33-38

Abstract: The environmental degradation and natural resources scarcity represent the most stringent problems needed to be solved. Our development was based on a linear economy, respectively take – processing – use – dispose, that entails significant resource losses. One alternative of this model is that of circular economy, a development strategy that enables economic growth while aiming to optimize the chain of consumption, with a significant resources saving. It is sure that the implementation of this model is not facile, it will take time and radical changes will be produced from technological and managerial point of view, but the benefits are increasingly recognized. This paper presents, based on a large documentation of literature, the main objectives, principles, procedures and specific characteristics of this model, with some details for water management. It is an introductory documentation in the field of circular economy.
