Abstract:
Good water governance is essential to achieve a sustainable society. This paper discusses the Dutch approach to achieve sustainable sewage treatment. In this approach Dutch regional water authorities move ahead by turning their wastewater treatment plants into factories for energy and raw materials. This is only possible in good mutual cooperation and good cooperation with external parties. This paper gives interesting examples of water governance instruments to which this cooperation can be established.
