Abstract:
Membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology has been proven as a single step process to treat wastewater and produces an excellent effluent quality capable for reuse. The membrane products available for MBR technologies reveals that almost all immersed membrane bioreactors are either rectangular FS or HF and that most sidestream membrane bioreactor technologies are MT. Some of the products in immersed techniques have been reviewed in this paper, such as Kubota and Huber for FS immersed techniques, and Zenon and PURON® membrane system for HF immersed technologies, Berghof and Norit X-Flow membrane for MT sidestream immersed technologies. There are also other products have been used as immersed technologies in wastewater treatment, such as NOVHIDRO rings and ceramic membranes.
