Abstract:
The following article focuses on the specific topic of (corporate) communication the role of in the process of business succession in family-run companies and takes into consideration especially the person of the senior-entrepreneur as the presenter of the firm to his or her successor. As the numbers of business successions (or at least: the numbers of aging small and medium-sized enterprise owners) are constantly growing, professionally structured processes are sought to help to retain those companies and the employment. As the practice show, communication matters have a significant part in these succession considerations: Without a consequent and individualized communication strategy it seems complicated to conduct the succession process successfully and to implement the new owner in a strong position. As a result, the article will provide a basic roadmap to communication in the context of business succession in family-run companies.
