Abstract: The purpose of the article is to study the transformation of Russian citizens’ perceptions of their native country in the context of the analysis of the subjective dimension of the image of Russia in the mass consciousness of its citizens. The theoretical and methodological basis of research includes J. Kashio’s concept of transformation of social reality, as well as political representation theory and political perception theory. The conceptual model of empirical research is built upon political-psychological approach. The results of two surveys, focused on the image of Russia, conducted in 2017-2018 and 2023-2024, constitutes the empirical basis of the study. Identical tools that include various survey techniques and projective methods (in-depth focused interviews, elements of the semantic differential, the method of association, incomplete sentences etc.) were used in both of these studies.
