Abstract:
September 2, 2009 the Internet was 40 years old. This worldwide network of information exchange is firmly established in our lives. Never before has information been so accessible as when combining multiple computers to the World Wide Web. Ironically, perhaps, it is natural, the idea of ??a distributed network with a packet data belongs to the military. This arrangement makes the network the most reliable, secure from technical failures, and most importantly - from the enemy attacks. The development of the conceptual foundations of "surviving" networks engaged RAND Korporation. The order for research in this area was well-known economist Paul Baran. Within the framework of the relevant program Baran wrote several works on various aspects of the construction of such a network. The first of these, widely regarded as the theoretical foundation of the Internet, we offer our readers.
