Abstract: In this study, we will use a very unusual approach, being from considering the general plans of development priorities and benefits system Russian special economic zones (SEZ). Unlike the traditional approach, which is characteristic for the majority of works on the zonal category, we will start directly with the SWOT-analysis Russian SEZ and generalization of existing capabilities in these areas for foreign (especially Finnish) companies. To give the reader an idea of ??the current state of Russian SEZ, we briefly review the history of their formation, as well as classify their main types.
