Abstract: The replacement rate in the practice of public pension systems is the most important indicator of the efficiency of the insurance pension system, because it allows to evaluate the level of the pension for lost earnings of the employee. In carrying out international comparisons of the replacement rate is used as the main indicator of the level of pensions. Therefore, the replacement rate is increasingly offered to consider as a benchmark in the process of reforming the pension system. In Russia, this figure is very popular not only among experts in the field of pensions and representatives of the authorities, but also in the broad public. But talk about a competent and effective use of the replacement rate in Russia is now possible with great caution due to the existence of two main blocks of problems of use of the replacement rate in Russia inconsistencies with international standards and the methodology for calculating the problem directly.
