Abstract:
The article discusses the history of the preparation and conduct of monetary reform in 1948 in West and East Germany. The authors analyze the economic background, the reasons for the reforms and the various options for their conduct, the course of monetary reform in the Western, Eastern Germany and Berlin, socio-economic and political consequences of the reforms for the further development of the BRD and the DDR.
