Abstract: The problem of protection from natural disasters in the context of increasing frequency of abnormal weather events caused by global and regional climate changes is one of the most important tasks of ensuring life safety and sustainable economic development. The intensity of dangerous hydrometeorological events has increased significantly in recent years. Climate change leads to an increase in adverse natural phenomena. To date, environmental problems in the Russian Federation have reached such a critical point that the assessment of the state of the natural environment must be interpreted as a threat to national security. The current situation requires improvement of existing instruments and mechanisms of state control and supervision in the field of Hydrometeorology and environmental monitoring. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the activities of the Department of the Federal Service in Hydrometeorology and environmental monitoring in the Ural Federal district in implementing state control and supervision in the studied area and to develop practical recommendations for its improvement...
