Abstract: Food security of the region is an important component in ensuring the country's food security as a whole and one of the main directions of ensuring Russia's national security, including the factor of preserving its sovereignty and statehood, a necessary condition for the implementation of its main goal-strategic development, which is to increase the welfare of the population and improve living standards of the Russian people. The main goal of food security in the region is to provide the population with safe agricultural, fishing and food products. The article deals with the issues of food security in the Perm region, including the problems of self-sufficiency of the region with agricultural goods and possible solutions. Based on data from regional executive authorities and territorial bodies of the Federal Statistics Service, the analysis of the current state of organizations in the agro-industrial complex of the Perm region was carried out, and negative factors that hinder the dynamic development of the agricultural sector were identified. The current situation leads to the loss of a sufficiently large segment of the regional food market by local agricultural producers, which is occupied by agricultural products from other territories. Special attention is paid to the development of the farm sector that showed an intensive growth of 3.3 % in the study period, which is explained by the state support provided in recent years. The study highlights a list of the main products of the agricultural sector of the Perm region, shows the dynamics of production of these types of products, as well as the scope of their implementation in domestic and foreign markets. In order to implement the food security doctrine, measures to increase the competitiveness of agricultural organizations in the region are proposed.
