Abstract: The relevance of the topic. In the conditions of the digital economy and the rapidly changing circumstances of the external environment, there is an increasing need for a constantly updated theoretical and practical knowledge base in the field of strategic management, which should combine, in addition to classical approaches, innovative adaptive concepts aimed at the formation and successful implementation of an organization’s development strategy. Goal. The study of existing conceptual approaches to strategic management and the formation of the author’s approach, the most relevant in the conditions of digitalization of the economy. Methodology. The study is based on a systematic approach using comparative, logical and retrospective analysis. Results and conclusions. The main conceptual approaches to strategic management are investigated and systematized, elements of conceptual approaches are highlighted, such as a model of strategic behavior consisting of a key aspect and logic of strategy construction, and a model of strategic development management. Based on the conducted research, the author’s conceptual approach to strategic management is proposed — a competitive situational approach with elements of digital transformation. Scope of application. Strategic management of the development of organizations in the private sector of the economy.
