Abstract: The article considers the phenomenon of "fake" in political discourse and its role in shaping public opinion. The concept of the term and its meaning in contemporary media space are analyzed. The reasons for the growth of "fake" information in political discourse are given. As evidence of the assumptions made in the article, authrs provide data from foreign studies of the content of statements by political leaders of America and Europe about the amount of their use of "fake" information.
