Abstract: The youth labor market is a special socio-demographic segment of the Russian economy, subject to its own patterns, due to the peculiarities of the status position and the specifics of youth. As a result of destructive tendencies in the Russian society, available human resources, including youth, are not fully utilized. The current situation of Russian youth in the labor market is esti-mated by experts as a crisis. Factors determining the peculiarities of the situation of Russian youth in the modern labor market are: inadequate representation of modern youth about the real situation on the labor market and employment, the preservation of social stereotypes; discrepancy of the acquired professional competencies with the requirements of the labor market; difficulties in finding a job in the specialty, dependent moods and a decline in the prestige of work; increased risk of youth unemployment. The inclusion of youth in the labor activity of Russian society is currently taking place in the conditions of the emerging labor market, and this process is extremely controversial and raises a number of problems, poses challenges for the entire system of state social services that work with youth.
