Abstract:
The article deals with the formation and development of urban festive tradition in Latin America (mainly carnival) in the context of the most important characteristics of society and civilizational specificity of the region. The peculiarities of the carnival as a ritual action, its structure, semantics of its elements and symbols are considered. The analysis of the formation of the carnival in its modern form.
