Abstract: The article reflects the results of the analysis of existing views on the definition of the term "diversification". Various interpretations of economic diversification as a factor of socio-economic development of the region are presented. The main strategy of diversification is to ensure the stability of the regional economy. This is achieved through the implementation of key diversification objectives, such as job creation, reduction of production costs and the availability of the region's strategy in the medium and long term. The author notes that the social infrastructure of the region is a diversification potential of industries (education, health, social protection, culture and sport), satisfying the social needs of the population.
