Abstract: At present, the application of project management in the work of public authorities has become relevant. The subject of this research is the problems of the project implementation stages by regional authorities. The purpose of research – analysis and development of recommendations for improving project activities of bodies of state power of subjects of the Federation. The following methods were used: analysis, synthesis, deduction, induction, generalization. The article considers the stages of the project implementation by regional authorities. The problems that take place at each stage are highlighted. This project management is not used as a tool to achieve strategic goals, project costs are often not optimized and depend on budget allocations, and not on the timing of the project or its relevance, the problem of interdepartmental interaction during the project, lack of qualified personnel for the implementation of projects, insufficient motivation of employees to participate in project activities, etc. The article proposes measures to address these problems: improvement of legislation in the field of: interdepartmental cooperation, determining the budget and increasing responsibility for its expenditure; stimulation of employees with additional payments, etc.
