Abstract: The article is aimed at the consideration of the problems of ensuring the security of the country and, above all, its political component, to identify threats, strategic opponents of Russia and to propose some approaches to ensure its national security. The author used both traditional and modern methods of research used in the analysis of modern political processes, and also took into account the opinions of experts on this topic. Strategic opponents of Russia among including transnational financial oligarchy and China are defined. To counter the threats posed by strategic opponents of Russia, the author gives some recommendations and suggests the formation of the Russian society's "defense consciousness", which is the basis of the political security of the state. The article is addressed to political sociologists, theorists and practitioners dealing with the problems of political security of the Russian Federation.
