Abstract: The national pension system has been in the process of reforming for two decades. However, the measures taken have not solved two main problems: improving the living standards of pensioners and achieving financial stability of the pension system. This article discusses the current issues of functioning of the pension system of Russia in modern conditions, the prospects of introducing a system of individual pension capital, analyzes its shortcomings and advantages.
