Abstract: The article reveals and justifies the main directions and mechanisms of the "green" industrial policy implementation process as a way of transition to sustainable development in the modern world, in general, and in the Russian Federation, in particular. Peculiar forms and instruments of "green" industrial policies in both developed and developing countries are examined. Possible ways of "green" development of the Russian Federation for the purpose of transition to a bilateral model of growth, which will allow the country to show steady economic growth with minimum impact on the environment, are established. The main criteria and indicators of the "green" industrial policy efficiency in different countries are distinguished, and an assess-ment of the efficiency of corresponding normative documents implementation at the level of national economies is given.
