Abstract: The article analyzes the problems that are currently being solved by the leading countries of the European Union in the formation of defense and security policies at the national, interstate and supranational levels. Thanks to this analysis, promising trends were highlighted and recommendations were made regarding a possible Russian response to the meaningful setting of a future interaction strategy by the participants of the collective West. Using the material and conclusions of the article will allow us to more efficiently build appropriate management processes aimed at containing and reformatting undesirable phenomena, track the evolution of state models in the countries of the European Union and determine the limits of cooperation between European partners with each other.
