Abstract: The article is devoted to determining the potential vulnerabilities of systemically significant banks of the Russian Federation to the money laundering risk due to their ownership structure and beneficial ownership. Logical and comparative analysis methods were used. Based on the results of the ownership structure analysis and beneficial ownership, Russian systemically significant banks are grouped by the author depending on the type of owner. For each group of banks, the author identified potential vulnerabilities to the money laundering risk, as well as recommendations for their monitoring. The author confirmed that the ownership structure of Russian systemically important banks can be a source of vulnerabilities to the money laundering risk, but this most applies to banks whose main owner is foreign entities or Russian legal entities and individuals.
