Abstract: The purpose of this article is to analyze the censorship function of political correctness. According to the authors, this issue requires, first of all, conceptual clarification, since the qualification of political correctness as censorship is not obvious to many and is even paradoxical. Based on the concepts of "invisible censorship" by P. Bourdieu and "symbolic power" by T. van Dijk the authors show how the concept of political censorship expands to include the practice of political correctness. On the other hand, it examines how the phenomenon and concept of political correctness converges with censorship practices as it evolves. Special attention is paid to the discursive features of political correctness as a kind of symbolic political censorship; moreover, the sociopolitical risks associated with this phenomenon are assessed.
