Abstract: The article focuses on the social and philosophic background of solitude. The author comes to the conclusion that solitude is a mechanism of “a person’s erasing” in the existence. The causes of solitude lie in different contradictions of a society development itself. So, solitude is not so much a metaphysical state of a person as social, cultural, historical product of the development of a human society.
