Abstract: In the frame of synergetic approach the author considers changes in the character of knowledge about society and peculiarities of social monitoring in a network society based on the network of electronic communication and representing power as ability of key actors to influence collective consciousness and change it. The author stresses the complex character of a network society as a dynamic system, non-linearity of the processes which take place in it and probabilistic character of society monitoring which directly influence the results of observations and course of events constructing “the enlarged” social reality. The author suggests philosophical background for studying a network society as a process of probabilistic generation of social reality through recursive self-reference, modeling commonsense reasoning in the network of communication institutions which diffuse uncertainty in the framework of accepted system of value-based information and also are able to produce considerable political risks.
