Abstract: Gaps in the study of Russian codification technique are considered. It is determined that the analysis of historical forms of the Russian codification technique confirms the existence of a stable connection between the rule-making activity of the state and the need for codification and gives answers to the actual questions of codifiers of the XXI century.
