Abstract: This study explores the possibility of implementing regional renewable energy projects through public-private partnerships. The issues of implementing regional renewable energy projects and the contribution of the public sector to its achievement are leading points on the political agenda, being highly debated nowadays. Hence, the general picture of the renewable energy in the European Union is revealed, and the special case of the renewable energy in Romania is disclosed. Furthermore, the partnership between public administration and private companies for implementing regional renewable energy projects is explored.
