Abstract:
The failure of current governance systems and regulations to prevent the moral, financial, economic and social breakdown call for the reassessment of the foundations that corporate governance has developed on. The present paper identifies and analyzes the paradigms that influenced the development of corporate governance to current times. Secondly, the paper discusses the questions that are being raised today in the corporate and political world as a consequence of governance failures. Such questions range from older issues unresolved by current systems to newer questions that also arise from the recent developments in the corporate world.
