Abstract: The transition to knowledge-based economy presents a range of difficulties to managers as they are forced to deal with knowledge resources besides the human, material, informational resources. BPM and reengineering methodology significantly facilitates their work; so the purpose of this article is to present two alternatives for the managers to bring efficiency and effectiveness to a company. In the first part of the paper we focus on the reengineering methodology, and how it can be implemented in an organization. The second part reveals the features of the BPM methodology, and we will underline the similarities and the differences between this two methodologies. In the last part of the article we will talk about how the two methodologies bring efficiency and effectiveness two a company.
