Abstract: Corporate Social Responsibility, a concept that refers to the contribution that the companies must have to the development that is based on durable criteria to the modern society, has become in the last couple of years a key element of the policies of some famous international institutions, like: The United Nations, The European Union or the Economical Organization for Commerce and Development. In its evolution, the international business environment continually adopts new practices to increase competitiveness and sustainability that are focused on directions of action that are economic and social responsible that would transform this world of limited resources into a source of unlimited exploitation. The new directive, published by the European Commission regarding the reporting of the social and environmental impact for the big companies and for the public ones, tends to be adopted by the Romanian business environment that will be sustained to fulfil ethic, social and environmental standards, according to the new rules and regulations. Corporate Social Responsibility is a reality of the international markets that place an emphasis on the healthy development of the business environment through the social investment into the future. The partnership between the private sector, the public one and the non-governmental one is one of the key factors of the sustainable development of the modern society.
