The Oreste’s Method in the Multicriteria’s Decision Process for the Management of Tourism Field

Abstract: During the decision process, one has to take into consideration more than one criterion, the alternative that meets as many criteria as possible being chosen eventually. As it is impossible to reach the maximum level that is wished for separately for each criterion at the same time, one has to settle for the alternative that is the best compromise considering all the criteria. In the field of tourism, developing any strategy regarding the tourist product, entering a market, organizing distribution and advertising means are based on a series of decisions and the use of modern methods of the decision theory has become a necessity for the managers in the respective business area. Among the methods that aim at choosing the alternative that meets as many criteria as possible, the Oreste method produces the order of the decision alternatives function of the significance/ value that they have within each criterion.
