Abstract: The paper presents the main provisions of the Convention from Vienna for the Protection of the Ozone Layer, the 1987 Montreal Protocol on Substances that deplete the Ozone Layer and its Amendments. The restricting and banning programmes of these substances, some consequences on the environment of the absence of the Protocol and some alternative substances are also presented.
