Abstract: In this paper we analyzed the public policy planning and making process at central level in Romania. In recent years, significant progresses concerning this process which is coordinated by the General Secretariat of the Government were made. These regarded the consolidation of government's capacity to better follow up its politic priorities and to provide a more efficient environment for regulation elaboration. As a result of this analysis, we found that the improvement of public policy making process at central level represents at present a necessity for Romania. In the end of this article we proposed a few measures for improving the public policy making, implementation, monitorization and evaluation process.
