THE ROLE OF VOLUNTEERING IN MODERN SOCIETIES

Abstract: This paper analyzes the role of volunteering in modern societies emphasizing its defining features. The first part of the paper explains the concept of volunteering and its role, focusing on its importance for achieving the objectives of the Europe 2020 Strategy. The second part of the paper highlights the barriers and challenges in using the potential of volunteering. The last part of the paper is dedicated to ways for motivating volunteers and measuring volunteering.
