INSIGHTS INTO SHARING ECONOMY: HOW TO EFFECTIVELY MANAGE THE RISKS FOR STAKEHOLDERS IN CHINA?

Abstract: Sharing economy is mainly supported by the involvement of three parties: platform, users, and resource suppliers. Since all the transactions are lending the right of use instead of exchanging goods’ possession, trust is still playing a key role in the running of sharing economy, but with it comes the risks for both use side and the supplier side. The public's embracing of the sharing economy has created a frenzy over the past few years, during which only a tiny group of them were luckily survived due to the issues such as the sustainability of business and the safety of the participators. To discover a more effective systematical way in managing risks of sharing economy, this study analyzes how trust in sharing economy is established in the sharing economy business model, and how information technology could be leveraged to improve the service for the stakeholders as well as avoid such problems arisen from personal unsteady recognition risks. On the other hand, key drivers (emphasized on the Chinese market) of the sharing economy business model are also studied therefore lowering the risks in its operation and looking for an optimized solution for its business continuity.
