PERCEPTIONS REGARDING THE INFLUENCE OF WORK ENGAGEMENT ON SUSTAINABILITY PRACTICES IN SOUTH AFRICA

Roger Muller

Proceedings of the INTERNATIONAL MANAGEMENT CONFERENCE, 2022, vol. 16, issue 1, 696-707

Abstract: The automotive industry and its dealerships in South Africa have the potential to contribute to economic growth, create jobs and stimulate competitiveness. However, the industry faces several challenges that affect its long-term viability, organisational outcomes, and sustainability. This study examined the influence of employee work engagement on the sustainability of car dealerships in South Africa. A significant positive relationship between work engagement and sustainability was identified from a sample of sales and service employees (n = 375). Several recommendations are made to increase the level of work engagement of employees and the sustainability of the dealerships to support the achievement of the organisational goals.
